Ubisoft’s gateway to PC

Uplay Desktop Client was Ubisoft's PC first-party platform, initially launched in 2012.

For players, Uplay was a central hub for accessing all content and services related to Ubisoft's PC games, receiving relevant news, and connecting with friends.

For Ubisoft, Uplay was a self-publishing platform, aggregator of services & security on PC, a player-facing platform to manage releases, content distribution & communication, and a digital distribution platform to promote and sell content.

Uplay was used by more than 30 million active users in 2019 and the number of daily active users was around 2 million.

My Role: Multifaceted Contribution

During my time working on the Uplay, I had the opportunity to contribute to various aspects of the platform's development and operation. My responsibilities ranged from creating visual assets and promotional materials to maintaining the client and supporting live operations.

Here are some key areas where I made significant contributions:

  • Banner creation & Promotion: I designed and produced a wide range of banners and promotional materials for various Ubisoft games and events. These visuals were displayed within the Uplay client and across social media channels.

More works are available in Behance as well.

  • Client Reskinning: I collaborated with the Live Operations team to reskin the Uplay client's background for special events and promotions, enhancing the visual appeal and user engagement.
  • Client Maintenance: I actively participated in maintaining and updating the Uplay client, ensuring its stability and functionality until its transition into the Ubisoft Connect PC Client & Mobile Companion App. My contributions spanned various features and improvements, focusing on enhancing the user experience and supporting the platform's evolving needs.

Here's a breakdown of the key areas where I contributed:

    - Account Management: Improved security and usability by implementing features like 2FA via SMS, account recovery through SMS, and streamlined account creation and deletion for young players (minor accounts). Also contributed to phone number collection and management of inactive accounts.

    - Social: Enhanced social interactions by improving the "join game" feature, adding support for invisible mode (appear offline), and implementing adjustments for young player accounts to ensure a safe and age-appropriate experience.

    - Live Contents: Improved navigation to support multiple simultaneous promotions and streamlined the beta registration flow for upcoming games.

    - Settings: Enhanced user control and flexibility by implementing adjustments for young player accounts within the settings menu and improving the account linking process for better cross-platform integration.

    - Uplay+(Ubisoft's subscription service): Provided integration support for Uplay+, including design updates for game tiles, notifications, the account management page, and the game product detail page to ensure a cohesive and user-friendly experience for subscribers.
